"Four months have passed since the shadow stone fell into Kell’s possession. Four months since his path crossed with Delilah Bard. Four months since Rhy was wounded and the Dane twins fell, and the stone was cast with Holland’s dying body through the rift, and into Black London.

In many ways, things have almost returned to normal, though Rhy is more sober, and Kell is now plagued by his guilt. Restless, and having given up smuggling, Kell is visited by dreams of ominous magical events, waking only to think of Lila, who disappeared from the docks like she always meant to do. As Red London finalizes preparations for the Element Games—an extravagant international competition of magic, meant to entertain and keep healthy the ties between neighboring countries—a certain pirate ship draws closer, carrying old friends back into port.

But while Red London is caught up in the pageantry and thrills of the Games, another London is coming back to life, and those who were thought to be forever gone have returned. After all, a shadow that was gone in the night reappears in the morning, and so it seems Black London has risen again—meaning that another London must fall.

Hi, so here, I shall tell my embarrassing story yet again. So, when I was on NetGalley, I was looking through and chose to get the preview to A Gathering of Shadows without any prior knowledge on the book other than the fact that it was great. Little did I know that it was actually the second book in the series and I had still yet to read the first one. *facepalms* So of course, I went to get the first one from iBooks and read it and fell in love. I was then eager to read the preview to the next one and, boy, am I glad that I got the preview when I had the chance. Becuase after ADSOM, I NEEDED this book and it was definitely the start of the perfect follow-up novel to this series.

The start to A Gathering of Shadows lives up to its previous title. The pacing, the characters, the NEW characters, plotting, and world-building was absolutely absolutely fantastic. I don't want to give too much away, but we meets some pretty awesome new characters and return back to the old ones to see where they have gone and how they have grown since. The premise is enticing and I honestly can't wait to see how it develops further! Schwab's writing style doesn't dip at all, she's on a rollercoaster that only goes up man.

This trilogy is easily becoming one of my all time favourites and I can't wait to devour them all. I will have a full review for the full book when comes out! So watch out for that! Thanks for reading this short review of the preview A Gathering of Shadows! Will you be reading A Gathering of Shadows when it comes out? Let me know in the comments below!

Happy Monday! :)
